Looking back over the past week, I have found hardly any time to sit back and relax. As I write this blog, I think back to the outline I have made. While making it, I took the opportunity to just sit on the couch.
Call me a couch potato, lazy, slothful, whatever you like.
The first time to relax in a week? I'll do what I please, thank you.
There has been plenty of football to watch over the labor day weekend, and I was able to go water skiing and dove hunting, too. I visited my colorful grandparents and listened to great stories about their past. I love to hear about their children, to hear the follies they went through. My alltime favorite tale ends with my uncle Dicky moving schools after a Jesuit priest threatened to quit over his abhorrent behavior. Long story short, he drove the priest to near insanity. Seeing older family members in such a perspective is interesting, I love the idea that reatives went through much of life's tribulations that I have experienced.
So as I rest after a long week and weekend, I get ready for work and school this week. A short week? I love starting the week on Tuesday, but I feel like the week drags on and on.
Dave Mathews band concert in Dallas this weekend!
My roommates and I are going with our girlfriends and some other friends, I cannot wait to go!
Oh how I miss hearing my grandmother's stories. She used to tell me how she rode to church in a horse buggy, and I used to think that was the funniest thing ever. She also would tell us about her 18 year old brother Dinky that died in World War II. Relish those stories. My grandmother died when I was 16, and I wish I could hear them again. I would also ask so many more questions now that I am older.
ReplyDeleteIn my family, when people start telling stories, someone's going to be embarrased. Those seem to be the only stories we remember!

I am glad to hear that somebody else spends time with their grandparents. My grandfather passed away about a year and a half ago, and it made me open my eyes and realize how short life really is and how important it is to spend as much time with them as possible because you do not know how much longer they will be around. I now have lunch with my grandma multiple times a week and I enjoy hearing stories and spending time with her.
